Famous Number Plates (OLD 1E)
An OLDIE But Goodie
Great Comedic Number Plate Owned By The Master Of Farce Brian Rix Until His Death
The plate reads OLD1E. The story goes that in 1967 Rix was looking for the registration JAM1E (the name of his son) but the only plate ending in 1E the dealer could find had the prefix OLD.
The actor seemed happy enough with that and attached it to the brand new Renault 4 he had bought for his wife. Clearly, as the years advanced, it became more and more relevant.
